New shows from Seven and ABC

Some new shows from Seven.
story here.
And the ABC is revamping ABC2, branding it a comedy channel. Which it sort of was, already, but now it’s official.
Kids’ programming will end half an hour later, at 7.30pm (shhh – don’t tell my five year old!).
Tom Ballard (who used to host a reality TV panel show for the ABC) now gets a regular gig with his own nightly show.

General chat – Oct 15

It’s Sunday night and boo hoo – no more Australian Survivor. I really hope Ten can scratch up the money for another series.
I guess it’s Block O’Clock tonight, as the other channels aren’t putting up much of a fight. Ten has Bull, 9Life has House Hunters (my pick), ABC Doc Martin, Seven Little Big Shots and Highway Patrol and SBS a series on the ancient Greeks.
Mr Juz and I will be watching the last-ever episode of Halt and Catch fire, a drama centred around a group of people involved in the emerging tech industry in the ’80s and ’90s. Its stars the always brilliant Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies).
ABC has a new half-hour show starting 8pm Tuesday devoted to TV, Screen Time, hosted by one of The Chaser guys.
The blurb says: If you want to know what to watch, join Chris Taylor and a rotating panel of special guests for the latest from the world of TV, streaming and film. This program goes beyond the binge to bring you the best screen recommendations.

Nine’s new cooking show

Guess Family Food Fight will screen on Nine after The Block.
This should get the family demographic in, without the outright villainy of MKR.

This Time Next Year starts tomorrow

The new show from Nine hosted by Karl Stefanovic looks like a bit of a tearjerker – and not just because the Today host is in the chair.
The show follows people over the space of a year, with goals ranging from losing weight to an infertile couple having a baby to a dying woman ticking off a bucket list.
I will be interested to learn if they are all success stories.
It starts tomorrow (Monday), 8.45pm, fter The Block.

Ninja Warrior shocks Seven

Australian Ninja Warrior has been a huge success for Nine – so much do that other channels are rethinking their programming.
Seven has decided to hold on to the family show Little Big Shots, which was about to air, fearing the Shane Jacobsen-hosted show would be slaughtered in the ratings by the agile ninjas.
And still no start date for Marco Pierre White’s Hell’s Kitchen. I want Debra Lawrence (Pippa from Home and Away) to win, partly because of her stellar work on Please Like Me.
