Kiss Bang Love

Did anyone catch the promo for Kiss Bang Love?
You can see it here at Kiss promo

It’s coming to Seven. The blurb says: “Kiss your way to love in the provocative new dating format from the creators of Married at First Sight. Research shows that kissing is a powerful tool in our search for the right partner so in a radical new TV experiment, we put this to the test. Ten Aussie singles will each be matched with 15 potential partners. They’ll skip the awkward dates and try to kiss their way to love before deciding who to take on a romantic holiday. Will a pash lead to passion? Is one smitten after a smooch? Can a kiss from a stranger end in love?”
Late last year the casting agency was seeking participants who were available for a week earlier this year, so perhaps it’s ready to roll out after MAFS finishes. There’s a Twitter account with the show’s name but there are no tweets as yet.
I’ll be interested to see what happens after they kiss the people – do they then pick two to spend time with, and then one to go on a Perfect Match style holiday with?
And now I’ve got this stuck in my head:

Australian Story tonight: Michelle Bridges

Remember when Michelle Bridges was just the woman brought in to the Biggest Loser to be the Aussie version of Jillian Michaels? And now she’s everywhere, from frozen meals to athletic gear to showing up in my Facebook feed trying to get me to change my body in 12 weeks.
She’s had her share of controversies, from her relationship with co-star Commando to the whole eating vegies in the dirt thing, so tonight’s Australian Story should be really interesting.
The blurb from the ABC says:
“For the first time on TV Michelle Bridges and her family talk about her becoming a mum at 45, her relationship with ‘Commando’ Steve Willis and taking on the junk food industry.
The program traces Bridges’ remarkable journey as the daughter of a broken home in working class Newcastle who last year was named on the BRW list of Australia’s richest self-made women.
She’s described as one of Australia’s most influential health and fitness experts. In a new relationship with her “Biggest Loser” co-star, Steve Willis, the couple have been fodder for gossip columnists and paparazzi and now have a 4-month old son, Axel.
Bridges says having Axel has strengthened her ambition to tackle the junk food and sugar industries. “The truth of the matter is they sell crap food and make people sick and that makes me angry.”

I reckon it will be worth watching just to see more awkward bodybuilding comp photos (and look at that hair!). It’s on the ABC tonight (Monday) at 8pm most states, or you can no doubt catch it on iView later.

Khoo joins Zumbo’s new show

The Khoo is back! After an all-too-short stint on MKR, Rachel Khoo is coming back to Australia to help pastry chef extraordinaire Adriano Zumbo with his upcoming show, Just Desserts, which sounds like MasterChef, but with sweets. How much it’s like GBBO remains to be seen.
She’s a great pick, as in past TV outings on MasterChef Zumbo has looked like he’d rather be in the kitchen baking than speaking in front of the camera. I’m looking forward to this one – no air date as yet.

Cannonball: New family show for Seven

Cannonball
There’s a new family-friendly show to screen on Seven later this year: Cannonball. It sounds like a cross between Wipeout and It’s a Knockout, and is based on the Dutch show of the same name. Cannonball was created by John de Mol, who is the guy we have to thank (or blame) for Big Brother.
The grand final of the Aussie version is being filmed today in Penrith, NSW, at the International Regatta Centre, but Seven has not announced an air date.
The hosts are Wonderland actor Ben Mongay, radio host Tim Ross (aka Rosso of Merrick and Rosso – pictured below) and Miss Universe 2009 entrant Rachael Finch.

Here’s the Seven media release:
In their first presenting roles, Ben Mingay (Home & Away, Wonderland, Packed to the Rafters) and Tim Ross (Wonderland) will co-host CANNONBALL, the family friendly competition where contestants aim to fly the furthest, slide the fastest and soar the highest – all
to win thousands in cash and prizes.
In addition, Channel Seven’s Rachael Finch will report from the sidelines capturing all the action from the arena as it unfolds.
Ben Mingay said “The best part about this show is that our contestants need no special skills, it all comes down to gravity in the end“.
Tim Ross added: “Ben and I are excited to work together again. We can’t wait to put our colourful contestants through their paces… and everyone loves a belly flop”.
Based on a Dutch format, CANNONBALL takes place in a giant water arena containing a slide over four stories high, a swing nine metres above water and an inflatable ‘blob’ cushion with the potential to send contestants up to 12 metres in the air.
Each episode, 12 teams of two will compete in a series of rounds to slide huge distances, fly across the water and launch into the air at giant speed.
Each episode will also feature a pair of Star Jumpers – well known personalities who will attempt to take on the challenges.

New show tonight – Long Lost Family

Channel 10 debuts a new series tonight (Wed) at 7.30pm: Long Lost Family.
Hosted by former Big Bro and I’m a Celeb contestatn Chrissie Swan and the genial Anh Do, it looks similar to other “lost relative” shows of the past – a cross between Find My Family and the excellent Who Do You Think You Are?. Still, nice to have a show that’s not about nasty would-be cooks or fake daters and, hopefully, ends in happy tears.

Tonight’s episode follows a woman trying to find the biological father she never knew, while story two seeks to reunite two sisters.

The ratings are out

Great article in The Oz about the past week in ratings, with MKR’s Lauren and Carmine episode last night trumping the I’m a Celeb winner announcement by 600,000 people.
Celeb wasn’t even the second-most watched show. That gong goes to Doc Martin, the British import starring Martin Clunes (remember when he was one of the Men Behaving Badly and not a crusty village doctor?)
clunes).
Here’s the link to the article – and it reminded me that Call the Midwife is back on, which is a terrific show.
