Survivor HHH finale

Here we are at the end of HHH. It’s down to Ryan, Chrissy, Ben, Dr Mike and Devon.
*** SPOILERS AHEAD****
That final twist was not cool. While it was exciting to watch, I felt sorry for Devon because, traditionally he would have made it to final three.
While Ben is no means an undeserving winner, he should have gone home at four. There will be a big backlash about this move and Jeff will have to do a lot to convince everyone it was planned all along. Which it may have been, given it’s been a season of idols and advantages galore. I hope they don’t do it again.
Chrissy gave a pretty good showing, as expected, in her final speech, but her manner comes across as too smooth – her emphasis on her social game did not always ring true. You could tell Jeff was happy. It was surprising to learn the jury consensus seemed Ryan did not do much around camp, which was not reflected in the edit. Good ole Devon, casting a vote for his original ally.
We got a sneak peak of next season, Ghost Island, and some guff about old idols and bad decisions needing to be redeemed. At least it gave us a chance to again see the classic Eliza eyes pop out of her head at the “f—ing stick” idol.

Survivor HHH – do the worm challenge

They’ve brought back that fun challenge from Millennials V Gen X where the contestants are bound and have to wriggle in the sand, pushing a ball with their heads.
I can’t imagine anything worse than having a mouthful and graceful of sand and no access to a shower and shampoo.
Tonight’s ep was ok but hardly thrilling.
There are still a number of players we’ve barely heard from.
Desi was a challenge champ (Probst was barracking for her almost as much as he did Michaela) and she happens to be my winner pick, but she has barely made the edit.

Survivor US episode 4

It’s a bit awkward to chat about this Gen X v Millennials season with Nine shunting the episodes into No Man’s Land or, in SA’s case, just not showing it at all one week.
This thread is for episode 4, which screened Thurs, Oct 13 in Australia. If you haven’t seen it, read any comments at your peril.

US Survivor catch-up

Finally, a bit of good news on the US Survivor front. While Channel 9 is not screening the premiere of Survivor: Millennials versus Gen X until this Thursday (a whole week after the US screening), it will play catch up the following week, showing eps 2 and 3 back to back.
The premiere this Thursday is due to air 10.30pm-midnight, but it’s on after The Footy Show which will no doubt run over, so set your recorders late.
If any of you have not seen US Survivor before but are converts to Australian Survivor I’ll be interested to see what you think of the original.
It’s still being doubled by The Block in the ratings.

I haven’t recapped MvGenX as I didn’t want to spoil it for those waiting for free to air, but if you want to read about it, Dalton Ross at ew.com is the Survivor recap guru, gets to go on location and then interviews Jeff Probst after each episode.
